The kids & I just made bright garden collages and hanging them on the walls makes it look like spring.  Since flowers come in every shape, size and color, I find they are an excellent springboard for learning.

From my kitchen table to yours . . . tips to bring the joy of gardening into your Butterfly School.

  1.  Enjoy our patterns: bluebells and daisies & asters

  2. Visit web sites or the library to find color pictures of lots of flowers!

  3. By request, here are three resources we enjoy.  We like them best as catalogs & enjoy ordering seeds.  It is also fun to visit the web sites, bookmark favorite flowers and then invite your child to view the pictures!

Build an alphabet book!

Teacher Tips
from Corinne Steigerwald

It is wonderful to see a child's proud smile as she reviews a book of her own work!  Help your child build an alphabet book.  Using Butterfly School's daily Activity Sheets, it is easy to tackle this project one page at a time!

Here are two approaches:

1. Little strokes fell great oaks.
At the end of each Butterfly School session, work together to add new materials to a three ringed binder.  (Punch holes in your papers or place art work in plastic sleeves.)  Helps your child review the alphabet each day!

2. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may.
For younger children, and when you are in a rush, try placing the day's materials in a special place (a folder) and add them to a notebook at the end of the week.  Each week, review the book as it grows!

Either way, at the end of the month you will have a very special book full of flowers.

Be sure to review this book often!  Let your child see that each of his drawings and projects can become part of a larger creation.
