Make a great kite book from one sheet of paper. We love it as a simple diamond exercise book. You might trim out 2 pages & spell out "K" "I" "T" "E" on the 4 pages. Be patient on steps 3 & 4. By your second book, it will be easier to divide the paper into three parts. Try more books!
1. Hold 8 1/2 x 11" paper vertically. |
2. Fold paper in half (top to bottom). |
3. Begin to fold paper in even thirds, creating diagonal edges. |
4. Complete folding paper in 3 equal parts. You have two diagonal edges to form the bottom of the diamond. | 5. Sketch lines to make the largest diamond possible. Trim away upper right and upper left corners. | 6. This leaves you with a diamond in many connected layers . . . |
7. unfold the connected diamond shapes . . . | 8. separate pages by carefully cutting between 2 diamond shapes | 9. you may now fold up your six-page diamond book or. . . |
10. To make a 4 page "kite" book, remove two diamonds... | 11. ...then fold the diamonds into a book shape. | 12. Decorate with a kite tail (add ribbons) & letters to spell kite! |
