Picnic
punch: fruit-sweetened water
Pour cold water into a pitcher (preferably
plastic). Cut lemons and oranges carefully into two different shapes. Slice half
of each fruit into "circle" shapes. Then cut each circle in half to
make semi-circles. Children will enjoy watching you make these shapes. Use a
cutting board to help your child remember to keep fingers away. Cut the rest of
each fruit into wedges that are easy for your favorite child to squeeze. After
all hands are clean, help your child squeeze the juice from the lemon and orange
wedges into the water. As the juice is added, assist your child in stirring and
tasting the punch. Continue until your child finds it just right. For a colorful
touch, add the semi-circle shaped slices of fruit to the punch.
