We eat spinach leaves and lettuce leaves. Caterpillars eat leaves too. Leaves help them grow. When it grows enough, a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. First, it hangs from a branch in a chrysalis. It is called a pupa! The pupa looks like a leaf and blends in with the plant. The pupa grows wings and becomes a butterfly. When it is ready, the butterfly will break the chrysalis open and fly!
